RK-5 Speed Relay

The unit RK-5 is designed for speed control and overspeed shutdown of diesel engines. It is the frequency of the incoming signal that is measured. The speed sensor can either be tachogenerator or magnetic pickup, mounted at the timing gear or at the flywheel.

The relay is delivered in three versions, depending on the incoming frequency:

• RK-5-1   0-100Hz Tachogenerator
  RK-5-2 0-2000Hz Pickup at the timing gear
  RK-5-3 0-8000Hz Pickup at the flywheel

The RK-5 monitors the engine speed and has three voltage free relay outputs:

• Relay D1: Changeover contact activated at 400RPM. Adjustable 300-600RPM. Green LED is lit at setpoint.
• Relay D2: Changeover contact, delayed 15 secs. after contact D1.
• Relay D3: Normally open contact, closing and self-holding at overspeed. Must be reset with the reset button.
