Description

The N2K (NMEA 2000 / J1939) Converter provides means for a Marine Pro engine controller to perform Fuel Economy calculations.

If there is an existing GPS with NMEA 2000 output on-board, then adding this unit opens for fuel economy measurements, i.e liters or gallons of fuel per nautical mile sailed.

This small and versatile N2K Converter translates NMEA 2000 messages into J1939 CAN bus messages, thereby making GPS data available for the Marine Pro engine controllers.

Then, when a Marine Pro engine controller is used with an electronic engine, the panel can display fuel consumption values per nautical mile. These values are of course also made available on the remote panels.

Currently, the engine- and remote panels give the following values:

  • Instantaneous: Fuel consumption per nautical mile now.
  • Distance: How many nautical miles sailed since engine start, since reset, and total.
  • Fuel economy: Average fuel consumption since engine start, since reset, and total.

The list will be expanded. The functionality is available in Marine Pro engine controllers running firmware 2.11 and later.

Multi-engine installations require one N2K Converter per engine. The N2K Converters are then connected to the same NMEA 2000 network.
