Barcol Air, Auto-Maskin’s distributor for the S.E.Asia region has completed a complete refurbishment and repanelling of the engine control panels and main switchboards on the jackup rig Safe Astoria.
The main power on the rig, owned by Prosafe of Singapore is provided by 4 EMD diesel gensets, and as part of the improvements to the equipment, the Barcol Air team designed and built all new cabinets, controls and remote panels based upon the IACS approved Marine Pro range of 400 series components.
“This was a long thought out project between ourselves and the owners” commented Joseph Ng, Product Manager for Barcol Air. “Key to Prosafe selecting the Auto-Maskin solution was the ability of the panel systems to individually change languages on the fly, having a multicultural crew on the rig. Operators can make far more informed operational and safety decisions if they understand the information being presented quickly and clearly. Also the ease of installation of the remote panels using the existing Ethernet network on board, significantly reduced costs and technical risks associated with the project”
