The existing Vessel Alarm System was old and outdated with no available support. After reviewing several available vessel alarm systems the owner, Foss Maritime, selected Auto-Maskin’s Marine Watch S Series Vessel Alarm Management for the upgrade on “Lauren Foss”.

The 817 tonnages oceangoing tug, Lauren Foss, was built in 2002 and has since that taken on numbers of tough missions. With its 8200 hp driveline, the tug hauls some of the biggest barges to open sea. Just recently the tug came back from a job in the Caribbean to undergo planned upgrade and repairs at a Pascagoula, Mississippi shipyard.

Since availability to the vessel was limited, Auto-Maskin LLC took on the challenge to install and commission the new Marine Watch S Series Vessel Alarm Management in record time. This was possible because the Marine Watch has a high degree of configurability, which really sets it apart from similar systems on the market. With this advantage, Auto-Maskin was able to set the vessel and owners back in business quickly.

Lauren Foss’s Chief Engineer was impressed with the ease of the installation and the system’s functionality and elected the option of several additional panels located throughout the vessel for faster recognition and response to alarms.
